The M6 Stage 1 project—a transformative twin-tunnel motorway linking Arncliffe and Kogarah—is a critical upgrade to Sydney’s road network. Ground One Civil was engaged to assist with specialist labour and temporary works under complex site constraints, stringent safety protocols, and evolving project dynamics. The project was placed on indefinite hold by the NSW Government, requiring rapid demobilisation and controlled site restoration.

We mobilised a high-calibre workforce of tunnel-formwork carpenters and skilled labourers to deliver precision works under strict HSE compliance. Collaborating closely with mechanical and electrical (M&E) teams, we also designed and installed temporary above-ground infrastructure including weather-protected walkways and elevated platforms to manage flooding risks. Upon suspension, our crews pivoted to dismantling operations and site rectification, maintaining full alignment with principal contractor requirements.

Our involvement enabled continued progress in critical work areas prior to project suspension. Upon government demobilisation orders, we swiftly transitioned to safe structure removal, coordinated daily with CPB, Ghella and UGL, and implemented site-wide restoration strategies. Our adaptive delivery preserved project safety and compliance standards during both active and close-out phases.
